Pooja Vijayarangan

Pooja Vijayarangan is an ink artist based in Pune, India, with around three years of experience working with alcohol inks—a rare and distinctive medium that sets her apart from traditional painters. Her signature style blends vibrant hues, intricate fine lines, metallic accents, and striking abstract or structured compositions. Using an air compressor to guide the ink’s fluidity, Pooja creates one-of-a-kind artworks that are fresh, expressive, and impossible to replicate, offering her collectors a truly exclusive experience.

Inspired by Banksy’s powerful words, “Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable,” Pooja approaches her creative journey with the intent to move hearts and minds. For her, art is not just a visual treat but a medium that provokes thought, evokes emotion, and challenges societal norms.

Pooja’s guiding principle in her artistic practice is unwavering originality. Working with alcohol inks has taught her to embrace spontaneity and surrender to the flow—sometimes letting the inks lead the way. She pairs this intuitive process with a commitment to delivering the highest quality, staying true to her promises, and infusing each piece with love and authenticity.

Interestingly, one of her most unusual and personal sources of inspiration comes from the skies. Gazing out from airplane windows or cockpits brings her a sense of calm and creative freedom. The endless skies, distant horizons, and shimmering stars become her muse, feeding her imagination and influencing the dreamy depth of her work.

One of her most challenging and fulfilling projects came in mid-2023, when she was commissioned to create five large-format ink paintings for a corporate space. Each artwork measured 4′ x 3′ and brought with it the challenge of mastering the fluid, often unpredictable nature of alcohol inks on a much larger scale. The collection featured two standalone pieces titled Tsuki and Scale Fusion, and a captivating three-panel series called Zephyr. Together, these works wove a story through their complex interplay of color, texture, and form—pushing Pooja’s creative limits and resulting in a body of work that was both visually stunning and deeply appreciated.

To emerging artists, Pooja offers a thoughtful piece of advice:

“Consistency is key—not constantly.” She believes that it’s not about producing art every single day, but about showing up for your creativity with commitment and intention. Even small, steady steps can build a meaningful journey when fueled by passion and authenticity.
